It's the same thing every year...
The same mulled wine, the same decorations, the same songs on the radio.
Let's bring a breath of fresh air to the Christmas song playlist today!
Here are 2 songs that you may not yet know in this way:
The English Christmas version of our Advent carol "Es kommt ein Schiff geladen" is the traditional song "I saw three ships" - at least in terms of the lyrics.
In this case, however, Jesus, Mary and Joseph are sailing to Bethlehem in the three ships mentioned there. In this interpretation sung by Sting in front of Durham Cathedral in the north-east of England.
The American song "Mary, did you know?", written by Mark Lowry in 1984, is considered a modern classic. The melody was written by Buddy Greene. The focus is on the Mother of God, who is asked in great respect whether she was aware that her son would later walk on water, save our souls, heal the blind and calm the storm with his hands. And the song explains to Mary: "When you kiss your little child, you kiss the face of God." This impressive song is sung by the equally impressive American a cappella group "Pentatonix", which has reinterpreted a whole series of Christmas carols.
